Geo-Environmental Solutions offers expert geotechnical advice backed up by state of the art field resources including a fleet of modern Geoprobe drilling rigs equipped for all geotechnical drilling and monitoring well construction, dynamic cone penetrometers, shear vanes, disc permeameters, salinity, pH and PID probes and a range of sampling equipment.

GES collaborate with a range of NATA accredited laboratories and the University of Tasmania to provide accurate soil and water analysis. This enables us to offer a full range of services across a range of sectors including construction, mining, general industry, and the environment.

Residential Soil Testing.

Whether you are building a new home or extending an existing residence, Geo-Environmental Solutions has qualified staff to advise you on current soil classification requirements. With more than 5000 residential site assessments completed statewide, GES are arguably Tasmania’s most experienced residential soil testing company.

GES provides soil testing according to AS280-2011 for residential and commercial construction, wind loading classification to AS4055-2006 and site and soil evaluation for onsite domestic wastewater management according to AS1547-2012.

GES are fully equipped with a fleet of direct push soil sampling rigs, and can provide prompt and professional service statewide. All soil testing is undertaken by a fully equipped local laboratory according to accepted Australian standards.

Waste Water Assessment & Design.

Residential wastewater assessment and design

GES have designed more than 3000 approved residential wastewater systems in Tasmania, including numerous challenging sites with alternative design solutions. GES are able to accurately assess site and soil conditions and design the appropriate wastewater solution for client needs.

Design solutions include conventional septic tank and trench absorption systems, modified beds, sand filters, Wisconsin mounds, and irrigation designs for packaged treatment systems.

Environmental Site Assessment.

GES offers expert advice and assessment of environmental contamination issues associated with a range of industries. GES consultants have specialist knowledge in hydrocarbon, pesticide, and heavy metal contamination, have managed many long term environmental contamination issues, and have developed mitigation and remediation strategies accordingly.

GES utilises field based assessments, including the use of photoionisation dectectors and XRF radiometric metal concentration detectors, in combination with discreet sampling and chemical analytical procedures to delineate and assess contamination of soils and groundwater.

Coastal Vulnerability.

GES are at the forefront of coastal vulnerability assessment in Tasmania, with extensive experience in coastal inundation and recession modeling. GES are able to undertake detailed sea level rise assessments and accurate coastal erosion modeling for coastal developments including the compilation of comprehensive reports to comply with planning scheme overlays. As many coastal areas become threatened with sea level rise and extreme weather events planning authorities are increasing aware of the dangers facing residential and commercial development.

GES are Tasmania’s first and most experienced operators of direct push drilling technology. GES have a range of direct push and auger capable rigs ranging from the powerful 540UD geoprobe to the man portable geoprobe 420m and geotool sampling systems. All rigs are capable of discreet and undisturbed soil sampling with the geoprobe macro core system which is the new industry benchmark for environmental and geotechnical investigations.

GES also have considerable experience in installation of the latest in geoprobe prepacked groundwater monitoring systems and soil vapor monitoring implants.
